Insurers protect nearly 70 per cent of Canadians against added
healthcare costs
In 2024, Canada's life and health insurers paid out $53.3 billion in total health benefits. This is
up 10.7 per cent over the previous year. This includes $40.5 billion in benefits for things like
drugs, dental, mental health support, and other paramedical services.
