6 all have an important life and health insurance component and our views on how they will impact Canadians are being sought. The CLHIA also continued to make inroads in a number of areas where forward momentum is typically slow and methodical by nature. For example, on the new capital system for 2018, through the QIS process, we have worked with the regulators to obtain a regime that reduces volatility for our industry. And on pensions, while the ORPP remains a disappointment for our industry, we were pleased that the Ontario government included in its proposals that Defined Contribution plans would be eligible for consideration as comparable plans. In the meantime, we will be working with stakeholders to build a national solution to better meet the needs of Canadians. Finally, we have seen the role and functions for the CLHIA continue to in the last 12 months and we are increasingly working in partnership with governments in tackling the high cost of drugs on a national level. Focusing on delivering value to our members This past year, we completed the repositioning of our Quebec office with the amalgamation of the former RACQ (Regroupement des assureurs de personnes à charte du Québec) and the CLHIA. This will ensure that the industry speaks with one voice in Quebec while, at the same time, increasing our profile and effectiveness. On that note, the CLHIA's profile across the country has grown in leaps and bounds, not only in the amount of coverage that we are receiving in the media, but also in the breadth of topics on which we are being called upon to provide commentary. New social issues such as assisted dying, medical marijuana and self-inflicted injuries expand where members see value in our involvement. In the past year, the CLHIA successfully took over the responsibilities formerly carried out by two other associations in the areas of anti-fraud and electronic claims. We have also expanded our educational role to embrace new technologies. For example, in one recent webinar we had 1,000 participants signed on -- pointing to the value of the information we are sharing with our members. Let me close by saying how much I appreciate the support of the Board of Directors and our members as we work together in an industry that is so important to the well-being of Canadians and Canada's economy.
