ASO-LTD • The CLHIA continued to urge Ontario to move as quickly as possible in developing the regulations needed to implement the new provision which requires that long-term disability coverage must always be on an insured basis. As well, we made specific representations to the responsible Ministers and officials in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. viii. Reinsurance • Efforts during the fiscal year concentrated on quantifying registered reinsurance counterparty risk and the industry's proposed amendment to the Winding Up and Restructuring Act (WURA). In April, we finalized and presented to OSFI and AMF stochastic modeling of registered reinsurance counterparty risk to support the industry's position prescription drugs, infrastructure investment, trade agreements, pensions, and financial sector policy. We met with the Minister of Health to discuss industry views on prescription drugs and with staff in the office of the Minister of Finance, and Minister of Infrastructure and Communities. We held a successful federal advocacy day in Ottawa on April 12 and plans are underway for an advocacy day at Queen's Park in October. for an alternative counterparty charge in the new capital framework for 2018. The CLHIA's efforts on WURA included a detailed written submission followed by a meeting with officials specifically on the topic. The CLHIA's Reinsurance Committee also addressed a number of other important issues including: operational risk charges under the new capital framework in 2018; proposed accounting for reinsurance under the IASB's future insurance contracts standard; and international reinsurance issues. ix. Furthering International and Trade Objectives • The CLHIA's President and CEO continues to be an active participant on the GFIA's Executive and CLHIA staff also provide leadership by chairing three of the GFIA working groups.
